Tour Plan

1
DAY 1 LIMA (FRI)
Welcome to Lima! Upon arrival you will be picked up from the airport and transferred to your hotel with English speaking transfer guide.
2
DAY 2 LIMA - AREQUIPA - PUNO (B,D) (SAT)
At proper time you will be transferred to the airport Today you will be picked up from the airport of Arequipa and taken to the train station to check-in for your train. Be ready for a memorable 3-day train ride. In the evening (08:00 pm) you get aboard South America’s first luxury sleeper train, the Belmond Andean Explorer. The train travels overnight towards Puno - the city on the shores of Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. Up to 48 guests can be accommodated in the Belmond Andean Explorer, which offers tasteful, en-suite cabins designed by Inge Moore of The Gallery HBA. For excellent views, head over to the observation car’s open-air deck. When night falls, the Lounge Car is the place to get some refreshing drinks as you sit back and contemplate the day. Grab a bite in the train’s two dining cars. Local, fresh, colorful and seasonal ingredients will feature heavily in a menu created by the chefs at Belmond Hotel Monasterio. Dining aboard. The train continues overnight to Puno at the Lake Titicaca.
3
DAY 3 PUNO - SICUANI (B,L,D) (SUN)
To visitors to Lake Titicaca, a boat trip to the floating islands, a unique tourist destination, is a must. Your 3-day itinerary doesn’t miss the lake’s most popular attraction. These islands, only a 20-minute boat ride from Puno, are made from layers ‘totora’ reeds which provide home, sustenance and transportation for their residents. After a short ride in one of the traditional reed boats you head to Taquile, the weavers' island. Across the centuries, ‘Taquilenos’ have preserved traditions, such as a communitarian life where everything is shared. Men always seem to be walking around the island knitting the woolen caps they wear. Unlike the traditional circuit you are treated to a lunch in a secluded spot in Collata - a private beach in Taquile. After a performance of a typical dance and a weaving demonstration you get back to Puno to board the train and continue your trip to Marangani, where the train stays at the station overnight. Dining aboard.
4
DAY 4 SICUANI - CUSCO- SACRED VALLEY (B) (MON)
After a hearty breakfast the train leaves Marangani station (at 07:30 am). On your way to Cusco you stop off at a quite different but equally wonderful archaeological site of Raqchi. Here you can see the remains of Viracocha Temple featuring large clay walls resting on stone Inca foundations, but also storage buildings and aqueducts. Welcome to Cusco. Upon arrival, you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel in the Sacred Valley.
5
DAY 5 SACRED VALLEY (B) (TUE)
Day at leisure in the Sacred Valley.
6
DAY 6 SACRED VALLEY – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO (B,L,D) (WED)
In Urubamba, you will start today's journey to Machu Picchu on board the luxurious Hiram Bingham train. This train reflects the 1920s Pullman era whilst boasting elegance and sophistication. You will enjoy brunch and mimosas in a relaxed atmosphere as the train passes through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The train will arrive in Machu Pichu Pueblo at 12.30pm when the guide will take you up to the majestic citadel of Machu Picchu by a private bus. Get ready to experience one of the most outstanding archaeological wonders of the world on a 2-hour tour. After the tour you can enjoy the tea time at Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge. In the late afternoon you will start your journey back to Cusco on board the exclusive Hiram Bingham train. Enjoy pre-dinner cocktails as well as a sophisticated four-course meal on board. Furthermore, an entertaining music show awaits you in the train’s bar carriage. Your luggage will be handled separately from the Sacred Valley to your hotel in Cusco
7
DAY 7 CUSCO (B) (THU)
At the appropriate time transfer to the airport or train station for your departure.
